I have seen demos of supposed batin-children breaking steel or Iron bars, people fighting blindfolded

lenn has been practicing silat since 1985, and is one of the foremost teachers in Britain. He received the highest grade available in Silat Lincah directly from the then Deputy Prime Minister, (now Prime Minister) of Malaysia in 1998 and has several other accolades awarded to him.

  • In 1987 he traveled to Kuala Lumpur for the 4th World Championships, where he first met his Lincah teachers.
  • 1988 he went to Singapore for the Open Championships, and then stayed on to continue training in Malaysia in Lincah, after being deserted by his first silat teacher.
  • 1989-1990 he went to Malaysia, and journeyed to Sumatra with a Malaysian delegation, to the Gelanggang sili berganti. This was a festival in Bukit tinggi where the silat practitioners get together and perform. It was a rare experience to see the styles of the region perform, and also he was lucky to have a lot of this explained to him by a westerner who trained there.
  • 1992 Glenn traveled to Malaysia and then Thailand for the Thai Open Championships, and later that year, to the World championships in Jakarta and then on to Malaysia where he stayed with and trained under the direct supervision of Maha Guru Silat Lincah. It was at this point that he was Appointed Wakil Maha Guru- representative to the Maha Guru, and Ketua Jurulatih Kanan Great Britain and Europe- Chief Instructor for Great Britain and Europe.

There have been several other trips out to the east for competitions and ceremonies, always accompanied by a great deal of training, and eating!!!!!

  • In 1999 Glenn received the Selendang Hitam, the highest grade in Silat Lincah from the then deputy and current Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato’ Seri Abdullah Haji Ahmad Badawi.

There has been much debate and comment on credentials of silat practitioners. It is safe to say that Glenn’s credentials are irrefutable. They are a matter of public record in Malaysia on TV, newspapers and in the annals and records of Silat Lincah. These grades and positions cannot be bought for many reasons. Among them is the fact that Maha Guru is a rich man and you generally don’t have enough money to buy this grade from him: maha guru GIVES the grades and the uniforms, so that if the student dishonours them, he has the right to withdraw the grade and remove the accoutrements that go with it

Glenn works as an Osteopath, Acupuncturist and healer in Luton. His profession has led him to work with international elite athletes, and other sportsmen too. He brings his professional skill to the silat training. Have a look at my other website at http://www.thecaringosteopath.com/

His stated aims are to work with like-minded organizations, such as charities and schools, and other organizations to provide a vehicle for some of their work. In Malaysia when there was inter-racial discord between the Malays and Chinese, the government approached Glenn’s teacher and asked him to open the art up to non- Malays to enable them to train together and learn about other races and cultures and so encourage tolerance and acceptance of each other.

Following on from this idea, Glenn has taught in Northern Ireland, during the troubles, encouraging the fighting factions to meet and train in each others territory- a difficult but achieved aim.

We now work with a charity, called the Myosotis Trust, based in Romania (see articles and links). We work with the charity to provide some of the basic essentials, like soaps etc, and in 2003 donated over £1300 to them. As well as this we teach there twice a year, and have the helpers in the charity teaching a class 2-3 times per week. We have 50 students there, from different groups, including a group that have AIDS, and some mentally and physically handicapped children too. As well as simply teaching silat we are giving purpose to some of them; assisting in teaching people who have been classed as un-teachable. “The pride I have in that achievement alone, without any of the other achievements in this group, is my incentive to continue this work in different countries and different cultures.”
